What Lies Beneath is a spooky ghost movie from 2000 starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Harrison Ford. It’s about a bored housewife who comes to believe that her house is haunted by the ghost of a murdered girl.
In What Lies Beneath, a married couple who live in a large house in the suburbs. When their daughter goes off to college, the house starts to feel a little empty. With her husband spending more time at work, the wife finds herself with little to do.
She begins to experience strange events in her house that seem to be supernatural in origin. The front door opens by itself the bathtub mysteriously fills with water. The radio comes on and goes off without being touched. Gradually, she begins to suspect that there is a ghost in her house.
She tries to convince her husband that the house is haunted, but he doesn’t believe her and suggests she go to see a therapist. The wife uses a ouija board to contact the spirit and comes to believe that her mysterious neighbor murdered his wife and it is her ghost that is haunting the house.
With each passing day, the intensity of the haunting grows stronger and the ghostly visitations become more frequent.
