Violet Violet is a sad and spooky story for kids about the roof of an apartment building where a ghostly voice is heard crying every night.
There is a certain apartment building in the city where the rooftop is off limits. The reason is that, in the middle of the night, when there is no one there, they say you can hear the voice of a young girl crying, “Violet… Violet…”
A few years ago, a young girl named Violet lived in the apartment building. She had a doll that she cherished more than anything in the world. One day, the doll went missing. Violet searched everywhere, but she couldn’t find it.
In the same apartment building, there was a girl named Daisy. She was 2 years older than Violet. That evening, she went to Violet’s apartment, stood outside the front door and slipped an anonymous note through the letterbox.
“If you would like me to tell you where your beloved doll is, meet me on the rooftop of the apartment building at 10 o’clock tonight. Come alone.”
At the designated time, Violet headed up to the rooftop of the apartment building. She was alone. There was no lock on the door that led up to the rooftop. Everyone was free to go in and out.
When Violet went up to the roof, she was surprised to find it empty. There was nobody there. She was about to go back downstairs when she suddenly saw something. Her beloved doll was sitting on the edge of the roof, outside the safety railing.
She was so relieved to finally find the doll she treasured so much. Violet climbed up onto the safety railing and reached out her hand to try and grab the doll.
It was late at night and the apartment building was quiet. The residents were getting ready to go to bed. All of a sudden, the silence was interrupted by the horrifying scream of a young girl. It was quickly followed by a sickening thud.
Violet was found dead at the entrance of the apartment building. She had been trying to reach the doll that was placed outside the fence when she lost her balance and fell to her death.
When Daisy heard about Violet’s death, she became hysterical and collapsed. She had to be driven to the hospital and sedated. Daisy regretted what she had done. She only wanted to play a prank on Violet and she didn’t intend for it to be fatal.
A few days later, Daisy jumped off the roof and committed suicide at the same place as Violet.
Ever since then, the ghostly voice of a young girl has been heard on the rooftop of the apartment building, crying, “Violet… Violet…”
