The boy soon realizes that there are witches everywhere and they are plotting to turn everyone into mice. Best bit: When she pulls off her face and reveals her true form.

In Drag Me to Hell, a young woman who works in a bank has a scary ecounter with an old gypsy witch who places a curse on her.

The Wicker Man

Wicker Man

The original Wicker Man movie from 1973 is one of the best horror movies ever made. When a girl goes missing on a remote Scottish island, a young Catholic policeman comes to find her. The townsfolk all claim the girl never existed and the policeman begins to realize that the whole island is full of pagans who still believe in witchcraft. Fearing that they are planning to sacrifice the young girl, he must find her before it’s too late. The ending of this movie is truly shocking, harrowing and chilling. Best bit: “Oh God! Oh no! Oh Jesus Christ!”

Suspiria

Suspiria

An American girl goes to Germany to attend a posh boarding school. There are a series of gruesome murders and the girl slowly begins to discover that the school is run by a coven of witches. What follows is a highly stylized, hallucinatory slasher horror movie with rich colors, odd camera angles and elaborate set pieces. It was directed by Dario Argento and and has an amazing soundtrack by Goblin. Best bit: When the girl is alone in the dorm at night and she looks out the window only to see a pair of eyes staring back at her.

The small town of Darkness Falls is haunted by the legend of a witch called Matilda Dixon. After the townsfolk killed her, they say she came back as The Tooth Fairy to exact vengeance. A young boy who has a morbid fear of the dark had an encounter with her and tries to convince everyone that it is more than just a legend.

Black Sunday

Also known as Mask of Satan, this classic Italian horror movie from 1960 features a centuries-old witch who is executed in a gruesome fashion. The townsfolk hammer a spiked mask onto her face. Centuries later, she returns to slaughter the descendents of the people who who took her life. The movie is in black and white and had an eerie, dream-like ambiance and a haunting visal style. It was directed by Mario Bava and is considered one of the greatest Italian horror films of all time.

The tranquil English countryside becomes a place of terror when Vincent Price, a dastardly witch hunter, roams around falsely accusing women of practicing witchcraft.

Also known as Night of the Eagle, this classic horror from 1962 features a college professor who discovers that his wife is a witch and has been secretly using pagan rituals to protect him and advance his career. When he destroys her magic talismans, bad things start to happen. The film is based on a novel by Fritz Lieber and was adapted by Richard Matheson.

This kids movie became a cult classic. It follows a young girl who goes to witch school. They are preparing for Halloween when the Grand Wizard will visit the school to watch their broomstick formation.
