Bloodlust

Bloodlust is a scary horror comic about a vampire on the prowl. It is based on a story called “Blood Lunge” that appeared in Vampire Tales #09 (1972).

After midnight, a dark shadow soars high above the sleeping village. This creature of the night is no oridinary bat, it is a hungry vampire on the prowl. He has a thirst that must be quenched, a lust for blood that must be satisfied.

But as the vampire lands in the village square, he finds that every door and every window has been painted with the sign of the cross.

All of them… except one.

The vampire has found his opportunity. He quietly opens the shutters and silently climbs through the window. Inside, he finds a beautiful young woman lying asleep in her bed.

The craving for blood siezes him and he stands over her, savoring the moment he will sink his fangs into his throat. Then, when he reaches out and pulls back the covers, he recoils in horror. Around her neck, there is a silver cross.

With a hiss of fury, he retreats and flies out the window, once again, soaring above the rooftops in search of prey.

His thirst is insatiable and it must be appeased. He searches high and low and then he spies the lone figure of a man below.

The unwitting prey waits as the vampire prepares to strike.

In the blink of an eye, the ravenous vampire pounces and his prey does not stand a chance.

However, the vampire made one fatal error. A wooden stake pierces his heart and as his blood flows out on the cold, cold ground, the last thing he sees is the smiling face of a scarecrow…
